What it is
The 755nm wavelength specifically targets melanin pigment, delivering energy in ultra-short pulses (trillionths of a second) while limiting heat to surrounding skin.
Numbing cream is usually applied beforehand, and we use cryo cooling air during treatment for comfort.
What to expect
Skin is usually red and may feel warm on the day, and treated pigment often darkens before gradually lightening over the following days. Redness usually subsides by the next day, when most people return to normal activities.
A course of treatments is usually recommended, with changes developing gradually over the following weeks and months.
Possible risks
Erythema (redness), mild edema (swelling), rashes, folliculitis and temporary pinpoint bruising.
Potential complications include post-inflammatory hyper- or hypo-pigmentation (PIHP), blistering, pigmentation changes, and rarely scarring or infection. Where numbing cream is used, there is also a risk of a local reaction or allergy.
