XERF

XERF is a radiofrequency (RF) energy device used to deliver controlled heat into the deeper layers of the skin. It is an energy-based treatment that works on the skin and supporting tissue.

XERF is not a slimming or fat-reduction treatment and is not suitable for everyone.

A fuller lower face or jawline can have more than one cause. Sometimes it's fat. Sometimes it's skin laxity, where skin and supporting tissue have loosened over time. Often it's a combination of both.

The distinction matters because fat and laxity are assessed and managed differently. What looks like one can turn out to be the other, and the right approach depends on what's actually there.

At consultation, your doctor looks at how the skin and underlying tissue behave, not just how they look. This includes how the skin responds to gentle movement, how the area changes with head position, skin quality and thickness, and your medical history.

Where fat is the main concern, treatments designed for fat reduction may be considered. Where both are present, a combination may be discussed. In some cases, no treatment may be the most appropriate option.

Any change in the skin develops gradually over approximately 2 to 3 months. Individual responses vary and results are not guaranteed.

Possible risks include redness, swelling, tenderness, altered sensation, burns, blistering, pain and pigment changes.

Less commonly: temporary numbness or changes to underlying fat tissue.
